I have been a blood donor for many years. Not as many as I would really like to proudly be able to boast, but that was through medical situations. I was encouraged to join a long time donor when he went to give his 100th donation and watching the mini celeebrations down at our local donor station was so heartening, I signed up there and then. It was then that I discovered a pal of mine was a donor carer – one of a band of part qualified attendants who look after donors during their session. They tend to the booking in and refreshments too. After a while my pal was able to take up the training to be a full donor operator and this was such joy to her. The level of support and e-learning whilst training was amazing and there wasn’t a time when she couldn’ find the answers she sought online n the web based back up course.
