Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Defined in the 1981 Education Act as a child with a learning difficulty for which special educational provision has to be made. This may be because they have a physical disability or have much greater difficulty in learning than the majority of children of that age. Schools have a duty to help identify and provide for such pupils.
