Primary education in England caters for children from ages 4 through to 11 and is conducted either through Primary schools or through a combination of Infant (or First) schools followed by Junior schools.

  • Primary schools cater for children from Reception (age 4-5) to Year 6 (age 10-11)
  • Infant schools cater for children from Reception to Year 2 (age 6-7)
  • First schools cater for children from Reception to Year 3 (age 7-8)
  • Junior schools cater for children from Year 3 to Year 6
