A chum of mine is now one of those smiley ladies who take blood samples down at the local clinic. She used to be a hosptial ward orderley, when they used to have that grade – then she stopped work for years to care for kiddies, then one parent after another until recently she found herself free of such responsibilities. Not wishing to wither away unloved and useless, she recalled the number people in helpful positions she encountered whilst in her varied caring roles. As one of the parents had needed a lot of blood tests during her care, my pal decided to enrol with a company that train phlebomists. This has been an absolute boon for her – the amount of learning needed on each online module was surprisingly complex, but by the fact my chum has qualified and is now working in her dream job, is testament that nothing is impossible!
